The one number that matters

Your kicker and defence scored 2.0 combined in Week 1. You lost by 6.5. Mevis and the Rams D/ST are both still in your lineup — one Rams blowout zeroes two slots at once. Fix that before Thursday; nothing else this week comes close in value.

01 — DO NOWFour moves, ranked

01

Split the kicker and the defence

Drop Rams D/ST and Browns D/ST (−1.0 in Week 1). Add the Packers D/ST — 6.5 projected this week against the Rams’ 6.1, and crucially not Mevis’s team. 49ers (6.4) are the fallback.

Removes a repeat of the Week 1 loss
02

Drop Baker Mayfield

He projects 445.3 rest-of-season — lower than every starting QB in this league. Three teams hold a backup who beats him. No trade value, and he can never start over Lamar.

Frees a bench slot at zero cost
03

Claim Emmett Johnson (KC RB)

Top available back, 6.6% rostered, handcuff to Kenneth Walker III who opened 23-173-1. A stash, not a starter.

Cheap ticket on a lead rushing role
04

Claim Adonai Mitchell (NYJ WR)

7.8 this week on 75 projected targets. Straight upgrade on Jalen Nailor and a more sellable name in any trade.

02 — TRADESWhat each one is worth

Read this first

ESPN’s projections already apply this league’s scoring, so “rushing counts double” is baked into every number below — it does not stack on top. Your edge is behavioural: opponents trade on names and draft position, not these figures.

Each offer is scored on net change to your starting lineup, rest of season. A player who lands on your bench is worth zero until he beats the man he’d replace.

Your problem is tight end and WR2 — not running back. That reverses what earlier versions of this report said; the corrected projections are why.

1 · Buy a real tight end → Bark sum Moore my Njigba
YOU SENDTee Higgins · 212.1
YOU GETBrock Bowers · 232.5
TE +59.1  ·  WR2 −24.2  ·  NET +34.9

Bowers fixes your weakest slot; Sutton slides up and Reed takes WR2. They hold seven running backs and Jaxon Smith-Njigba, so a second real receiver is worth more to them than a third tight end.

“You’re deep at RB and I’m deep at WR. Tee Higgins for Brock Bowers — you get a receiver to pair with Njigba, I get a TE I can actually start. Straight up?”
2 · Upgrade WR2 → Dark Side of the Mooney
YOU SENDCourtland Sutton 196.8 · Jayden Reed 172.9
YOU GETRashee Rice · 255.8
WR2 +59.0  ·  bench cost 0

Reed never starts for you, so he costs nothing. Mooney hold six backs and their receiving room behind Rice is Egbuka, Tate, Downs and Vele — two bodies for one reads fair to them.

“Sutton and Jayden Reed for Rashee Rice. You’ve got six RBs and a thin WR room — two starters for one. Works either way.”
3 · The free swing → Da Fat Man
YOU SENDRashid Shaheed · 155.3
YOU GETJosh Jacobs · 249.3
+0 now  ·  +249 if reinstated

Jacobs has been on the commissioner’s exempt list since 30 August with no timeline, sitting on their bench tagged DTD. Perceived value at its floor, actual value unchanged. Shaheed never enters your lineup, so this costs nothing.

Note: Green Bay’s bye is Week 11, your worst week — irrelevant here, since his value is Weeks 12–17 anyway.

“Taking a swing on Jacobs since nobody knows when he’s back — Rashid Shaheed for him. You turn a guy who might never play into a receiver you can use.”
Offers not to send, and why

Anything involving Baker Mayfield. Lowest-projected QB1-equivalent in the league. Asking costs you credibility.

Trading for more running backs. Only 23 backs league-wide beat Warren’s 286.2, and each sits on a contender who won’t sell. Your RB room is already a strength.

Bijan or Lamar in any package. Top-five projected players in the entire league.

Kenneth Walker III. 23-173-1 in Week 1 — priced as untouchable.

Week 1 post-mortem — why you lost

Seven skill slots produced 142.0. Kicker and defence produced 2.0. An average pair is worth 10–15 here.

It wasn’t bad luck twice — it was the same bad luck twice. The Rams lost 7–27, so the defence was shelled and Mevis never attempted a field goal because his own offence scored seven points.

You did not lose on lineup decisions. Your best possible lineup was 146.5 — swapping Nailor in for Sutton was the only gain available, and it still loses by 4.0. A roster construction loss, which only trades fix.

04 — SEASONByes, schedule, must-wins

The good news

All four of your bye-wrecked weeks land against teams that finished 11th, 14th, 10th and 12th in Week 1 scoring. Every one of your six hardest opponents comes in a week when your roster is whole.

Your season is decided in Weeks 5–12 — six of the seven hardest opponents, overlapping the Week 10 and 11 bye holes. Get trades done before Week 5. Week 14 against Mooney is a head-to-head seeding tiebreaker and they already hold the edge.

Bye detail and December notes

Wk 6 CIN/DET — Higgins, LaPorta, Perine. Wk 10 TB/DEN — Irving, Sutton. Wk 11 ATL/LAR/GB/SEA — Bijan, Mevis, Rams D/ST, Reed, Shaheed, Holani. Wk 13 BAL — Lamar.

Shop teams on bye in Weeks 5, 7, 8, 14. Avoid Week 10 and 11 players.

December: cold weather suppresses passing and lifts rushing volume, and this league pays double for rushing yards — a tailwind in the weeks that decide your season. Your title game is Week 17 of an 18-week season, so contenders rest in Week 18, not yours. The real risk is eliminated teams abandoning veterans.

Receiving yard0.1000.1001.00
Passing yard0.0750.0401.88

Archetype value works out to QB 1.67×, workhorse RB 1.52×, WR 1.00× — receivers get no boost at all. Verified against ESPN’s own engine to within 1–4 points per player.

But don’t double-count it

ESPN’s projections already apply these rules. The multipliers explain why your roster is shaped as it is; they add nothing on top of a projection. Use them to understand the league, not to inflate a trade.
